Acceptable Topics For Your Blog

Blogging these days is definitely growing and becoming more and more popular, not only to people who like to write a journal and keep a personal diary of their day to day living and experience, but as well as for several different companies and businesses who realize this new valuable online tool, blogging, that allows them to reach out to more costumers and more people. Gone are the days that blogging is just a diary to write down their day to day personal experiences and family stories, blogging has reach new heights, where its becoming a method of advertising for products and services for some businesses and companies, giving bloggers plenty of opportunity to earn while blogging.

But if you own a blog and want to tap into these growing new way of advertising, by writing articles and postings that are sponsored. It is so easy and tempting to jump in to every opportunity that comes along, and just accept whatever topic comes in your way. If your blog is about travel, or garden, but you came across an opportunity to write about gaming or medical stuff, are you willing to accept such opportunities just to earn some dollars?

I personally think that if you have blog with very specific topics, you should always try to retain that specific topic, and you only accept writing jobs and advertising that are related to your specific topic. If your blog or site is not a general topic, because you originally intended to write certain topic like makeup, or decorating, or animals, then it might not a good idea to add a post there that talk about online gaming, or surgery, etc. If you do this, your blog will lost focus and your unrelated contents may possibly turn off your readers and viewers specially when its totally off-topic. In trying to earn few dollars, you may be slowly harming your blog reputation, by accepting topics that are totally unrelated to what your blog was originally intended for.

For the sake of longer terms, if you want to retain your blog reputation intact the whole time, its good to know the purpose of your blog, what topics are acceptable and you are willing to include in your write ups, without harming your blog or site in the long run.

Why Comment Moderation Is Important

Few years ago, I managed an online forum related to the website that I managed as well, but I ended up discontinuing the forum part of it because of the spammers postings nothing but irrelevant advertising of their products and services, mostly fake rip-off handbags, prescriptions drugs, enhancement products, and more! And some of these postings were obviously done by automatic programs, also known as robotic spammers. And if you don't moderate your comments or guestbook sections of the blog or site, then you could possibly ended up with a lot of these entry junks, which is a huge turn-off for your site visitors and readers. If you cannot control the contents of your site or blog, specially when it comes to all the spams and junks added, then it wont be long when most of your human readers, who wanted to read your entries, will not stay when they have to deal with all kinds of unwanted spams.

So its important that all entries including your guestbook and comment entries must be moderated by a human being to make sure that everything that will be seen in your blog or site is something that you actually want to show to your readers and visitors. You don't want to damage your blog or site reputation due to the dirty works of spammers out there. Keep your site and blog as desirable as always, don't let unwanted postings crawl their way. That's why we have the option to moderate comments and guestbook entries, to have total control of all entries and hopefully keep it that way.

There are several extra measures that you can take to control all comments and entries to new heights like graphic verification, image identification, numerical operations questions, and more. All these require that the postie need to think and see or hear in order to determine the answer to the question or verification, that she/he can type the answer in the space provided to distinguish between what is human and what is automatic program.

Advantage of Having Your Own Domain Name

Do you own a website or a blog but currently don't have a web hosting account? Then you are probably battling whether to get and register your own domain name or not. A hosted blog or website with generic domain name means that you are currently using a blogging platform provided by a blogging company and at the same time use their free server space to store your data and the current URL address of your blog or website is formatted like this: YourDomain.BlahBlahBlahXXXX.com. While, o the other hand, having your own domain name means that you own and register your own URL address for your blog or site that looks like this www.YourDomain.com

So what are the advantages and disadvantages of having your own domain name instead of using the generic URL address? First and for most, i personally think that there is no major disadvantages of having your own domain name, except for the cost of maintaining and keeping the domain name year after year. But regardless of whether you own your domain name or you are using a generic URL address, you are stil going to take time and effort to promote your blog or website, either way. And that is where the main advantage of having your own domain name comes in. If you own your own domain (with format www.YourDomain.com), then you are promoting your own brand and your name. Even if you change or switch from one blogging platform to the next, your domain name will remain the same, and all your time and effort promoting your domain name will not be wasted because you will always have the same domain name that will point to your blog or website, even if you change servers, hosting companies, or software platforms.

The only time that your effort will be wasted completely trying to promote your own domain name is when you decide to change your domain name to another name. If you rename your domain name. then you have to start promoting your new name all over again.

www.DOINGE.com Transition

To all my blog readers and visitors, I would like to let you know that I finally got the domain name running for this blog, DOINGE. Instead of the old one, doinge.blogspot.com, the new domain name for this blog is now www.DOINGE.com The old one still works, and will be automatically forwarded to the new domain, though.

It took me awhile to have the domain name hook up, because my registrar could not figure out my request several times. I finally have it running, hopefully you will the take time to ADD my new domain name www.DOINGE.com in you blogrolls or links too, i would truly appreciate it! Thank you so much and have a wonderful day to you.
